What the council asks for (12)

Applicant must be a scaffolding company with at least £5 million public liability insurance
Minimum 1.2m width/access for pedestrians under or passing a scaffold between standards
Minimum 1.2m width/access between hoarding and kerb line for pedestrians
If footway too narrow, hoarding must be erected on kerb line with temporary walkway and handrail
Standards must be erected 450mm from the face of the kerb
Barriers and signage required where scaffold is close to or on the carriageway
Scaffolds must be lit at each end and every 4m thereafter
All standards must be taped red & white at pedestrian height and protectively covered where required
All scaffolds must be double boards and polythene on the first lift
Ladders must be within scaffold framework and not obstruct pedestrians
Scaffolds must be 'fanned out' at 6m with brickguards on all levels during construction/demolition
Copy of licence and courtesy board with contact/emergency number must be displayed on scaffold
